Tracy Ann Campbell, J.D. – Founder and CEO
Tracy Ann Campbell is a distinguished lawyer and business counselor with unrivaled experience guiding corporations through complex insurance coverage issues and providing risk management solutions. Her extensive skill set includes client counseling, successful negotiations and settlements and litigation in the areas of executive liability, professional liability, commercial general liability, construction defects, property/business interruption, product recall, and title insurance. She also has defended corporate clients in complex litigation involving asbestos, juvenile products and HIV tainted blood products.
Backed by more than 16 years of experience in risk and insurance counseling and litigation as a former partner at the renowned law firm of Schiff Hardin LLP, Tracy demonstrates an expert grasp of crisis solutions management in uncertain economic climates. “Too many companies rely on inefficient risk management that provide only the illusion of protection.” She further explains “This traditional approach is doomed to fail because the energy is spent dousing the same isolated fires with little, if any, effort spent on preventing those fires from ever sparking at all.” Ms. Campbell stresses the importance of investing in CRA’s trusted advisors to provide an independent, strategic analyses of business operations and create a plan that is clear and concise, that provides concrete actions items and should ideally be tailored to a company’s culture, industry and most pressing concerns.
While leading the insurance coverage practice at Schiff Hardin LLP, Tracy identified risk exposures and counseled clients on changes to their risk management programs and insurance policies. Tracy developed a comprehensive insurance audit checklist for evaluating insurance policies. Tracy has also been recognized for her novel solutions to complex risk transfer issues in commercial agreements. She negotiated with insurance companies to recover insurance proceeds for her clients, and she represented corporate clients in insurance coverage litigation. Among other positive outcomes, she negotiated a multi-million dollar settlement of an environmental coverage claim and achieved a favorable determination in a case of competing claims for a policyholder’s assets.
Tracy has introduced fresh and innovative risk management methods to identify, analyze and transfer business risks familiar to companies, but also those emerging risks and legal complexities unknown to her clients or their brokers that create significant value added for her clients. For example, Tracy creates custom insurance provisions to maximize the value of her clients’ insurance policies with little to no increase in premiums, a skill honed by her identification of the most common and readily avoidable coverage issues and ambiguities during her years litigating complex insurance coverage disputes. She not on specializes in, but particularly enjoys, counseling senior-level executives and directors of both publicly and privately-held companies. She is adept at taking complex concepts and language and communicating their meaning to her clients in plain, unambiguous language. Her specialty is providing risk and insurance counsel to financial institutions, product manufacturers, utilities, technology companies and professional services companies, among a wide variety of industries as every company incurs business risks.
Tracy’s philosophy and vision for CRA is to educate and prepare business well in advance of a crisis that could jeopardize the earnings, reputation and, ultimately, the future of her clients. Moreover, in today’s heightened government compliance and regulatory landscape senior management are now the prime targets for civil penalties, as well as criminal penalties.
Tracy received her bachelor’s degree in political science from Yale University in 1996. In 1999, she earned her J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law. In 2011, Tracy received the prestigious honor of being recognized by the Chicago Lawyer Magazine as one of its 40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch. Tracy was recently honored with an appointment to the Yale Club of Chicago Foundation, which raises funds to support local Yale students on financial aid.
Tracy also serves as Yale University Undergraduate Admission’s Office alumni recruiter for low income, minority and other under-represented populations in the Chicagoland area. She also serves on several nonprofit boards dedicated to preparing students from under-represented backgrounds and their families to apply to colleges and universities. Tracy is especially committed to acting as a mentor and being a resource for high achieving students who lack the information, resources and often the confidence and community support to apply to their college of their dreams.
